Animation for Laser Treatment of Narrow Angled Glaucoma added:

Description - A comprehensive animation which shows iridectomy using lasers for the treatment of narrow angled glaucoma. Narrow Angled Glaucoma- Another cause of improper drainage involves the reduction of the angle between the iris and the lens. In this the iris folds up and touches the lens causing a blockage to the flow of the aqueous humor towards the canal of schlemm. This type of glaucoma is known as narrow angled glaucoma and can be treated by iridectomy which is the cutting of the iris using a laser to relieve the pressure within the eye.

Article on Niosomes added.

Author: Akul Mehta
Abstract: Niosomes are a novel drug delivery system, in which the medication is encapsulated in a vesicle. The vesicle is composed of a bilayer of non-ionic surface active agents and hence the name niosomes. The niosomes are very small, and microscopic in size. Their size lies in the nanometric scale. Although structurally similar to liposomes, they offer several advantages over them. Niosomes have recently been shown to greatly increase transdermal drug delivery and also can be used in targeted drug delivery, and thus increased study in these structures can provide new methods for drug delivery.

Author: Presented by Dr. Abha Doshi (Principal of MET- Institute of Pharmacy, Bandra), Assisted by Akul Mehta.
Description: A presentation on liposomes with slides covering everything you would want to know about this novel drug delivery system. It contains information on what are liposomes, advantages of liposomes as a drug delivery system, structural components of liposomes (phospholipids and cholesterol) and the types of ingredients which can be used to make liposomes. It also contains information on how liposomes are prepared and the various methods to prepare them, the classification of liposomes, and characterization and quality control tests that are performed on liposomes.

The following animations are added:
1) Recombinant DNA Technology
2) DNA Fingerprinting Techniques
3) Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Recombinant DNA Technology
Description - A 3D animation illustrating the process by which a protein is mass-produced using spliced DNA and bacterial replication using Plasmids. DNA recombinant technology is used to produce proteins using bacteria. The bacteria being easier to grow than actual animals, proteins can be mass produced using them. This animation shows how exactly using the DNA from which the protein can be made, a plasmid is generated which is a recombinant DNA plasmid, which when reintroduced into the bacteria promotes the bacteria to synthesize the protein.

DNA Fingerprinting Technique
Description - An animation showing how DNA Fingerprinting is done. DNA fingerprinting is used a lot in forensic studies to find criminals. As the DNA of a person is unique, DNA fingerprinting can be used to identify people. In these times of identity theft, terrorism, and the TV criminology craze, learn just how genetic fingerprinting occurs.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
Description - This animation shows what PCR or Polymerase Chain Reaction is and how it is done. It is a very informative animation showing the technology and the concepts used to perfom PCR.
